Juan Carlos Nieves Sánchez is an associate professor and a senior researcher in Theoretical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence. He is deputy Programme Director of the MSc programme in Artificial Intelligence. Member of the council for Doctoral Education in Computer Science at Umeå Universitet. He has been serving as an external (Ethical) advisor/reviewer in different EU projects. He has also served as an expert reviewer for different European national research councils.
During the last years, he has been particularly interested in how theories on human decision-making and human activity can be translated into formal computational theories that may enhance the social adaptability of intelligent systems.
